I recently spent a week at “home” in Connecticut with my 2 sisters and brother. We try to get together once a year – as 2 of us now live out of state. It’s just like old times, however, and we find so many things to laugh about – as though we were still kids! I’m so fortunate to have these amazing siblings – we remain as close now in our later years, as we were growing up together!
We each have our favorite “refreshing beverage” to sip, as we share precious memories, and spend time together. Beer, wine, martinis, and for my sister Carrie and her husband Martin – it’s a Margarita. I have named it the “Vezina Margarita”, and it’s amazing!
They perfected it after trial and error, and have now settled on this recipe that incorporates the citrus flavors of lemon, lime and orange, and their favorite tequila (Gold, 100% blue agave). This recipe can easily be adjusted to anyone’s preference – I actually like a silver tequila like Patron silver. Like more or less lime flavor? Add more or less! Orange, add more OJ. Lemon? Adjust it til it’s just right for you! I found these cute little “pitcher” glasses that were perfect for a margarita.
Here is the original recipe for 1 – 8 oz margarita:
1 1/2 oz Tequila (gold or silver, 100% blue agave)
1/2 oz orange liquor such as Cointreau, or Gran Gala
1/2 oz Rose’s Sweetened Lime Juice
1 1/2 oz Lemonade/limeade combination
1 oz orange juice
Rub a cut lime around the rim of an 8 oz glass, and dip into some coarse salt (if desired). Pour ingredients into a shaker with ice, and shake til very cold. Pour into your glass with the ice. Garnish with lemon, lime and orange slices, and a straw.
