Fresh blueberries in season, and a mint plant growing on my patio – a match made in heaven! Make that a CHOCOLATE MINT plant! Even better! If you love a flavored martini as much as I do – you may just find this one irresistible! I muddled some fresh blueberries, and a few mint leaves in a shaker with lime juice. Then I added ice, vodka, Triple Sec, and pomegranate blueberry juice. Shake for at least 30 shakes, and pour into a chilled martini glass. For added aroma, garnish with a few fresh blueberries and mint leaves on a skewer. Every time you take a sip, you will not only taste the flavors, but inhale them as well!
Recipe for a Fresh Blueberry Mint Martini (makes 2 martinis)
Combine in a shaker:
Juice of 1 lime, strain to remove pulp
about 6 fresh mint leaves
10 fresh blueberries
Muddle together, using the end of a wooden spoon,
just to break up the berries, and mint.
Add ice to the shaker.
Add:
2 oz of vodka
2 oz of Triple Sec
2 oz of pomegranate blueberry juice (Pom Wonderful)
Shake for at least 30 shakes. Pour into chilled glasses.
The muddled pieces may tend to slow the pouring process – just swirl the shaker a bit, and pour again. Be patient – it’s worth it!
Garnish with a few fresh blueberries and mint leaves on a small skewer. To increase the aroma of the mint leaves, rub them between your fingers gently before placing them on the skewer.
