While I love baking, I probably love TEACHING others how to bake and create a piece of art even more! It’s the best way I know to pass on a tradition so meaningful to me.
My 7 year old grand daughter spent the weekend with me. She wanted to learn to make a “drip cake” – so I prepared a little 6″ chocolate cake with 3 layers the day before. It was filled with mascarpone whipped cream, mixed with mini chocolate chips. I frosted it with light pink cream cheese buttercream – and chilled it over night.
She did an amazing job, using a plastic craft bottle filled with some chocolate ganache. We practiced using a glass placed upside down. A little instruction on how to drip SLOWLY, and carefully, and to know that every drip cake is unique, according to the artist’s hand!
Next it was time to DRIP on the actual cake!
After smoothing the top with an offset spatula, and chilling the cake for about 20 min, she then piped on some mascarpone whipped cream.
And of course a few sprinkles!
Yup – even a 7 year old ~ !
