I love going out for ice cream – when I do, I pick the fancy cones that are available on the counter. Chocolate dipped, with either sprinkles or nuts or chocolate chips around the edges. The are all so pretty!
Well – they are actually pretty easy to make yourself!
All you need are: cones, melting chocolate, and sprinkles or other toppings. I chose a store bought waffle cone, but sugar cones, or regular wafer ice cream cones will work as well.
I had some tall, slender parfait glasses with narrow openings which worked perfectly to stand the cones in til they dried. You could also stand them in a large bowl filled with rice or dried beans – or if you don’t have any of these options available, just lay them on some parchment paper to dry.
I melted some chocolate almond bark in the microwave, dipped the cone edges into the chocolate, then shook off the excess. (You can dip as much as you like – you can even fill the cone with melted chocolate, roll it around to coat the inside, then shake it out).
Add your toppings while the chocolate is still wet. Then stand upright as above, or lay flat on some parchment paper to dry.
I stored mine in the styrofoam container the cones came in – then put them in a gallon size zip lock baggie – they will last for several weeks at room temp. (trust me, they won’t last that long!)
Fill with your favorite icecream!
